The Wine
Our Reds
The Oak-Aged Cuvée
Rich in tannins and an intense deep red colour: will age well, ideally spending 2-3 years in the cellar before being drunk.Accompanies local Périgourdine produce particularly well. Meat dishes and stew also bring to the fore its full-bodied richness and notes of undergrowth and spice.
The bouquet will improve with age; it is definitely a wine to lay down.
The wine spends 12 months in oak barrels: hence its name, the ‘Cuvée Barrique’.
The Cuvée Prestige
This cuvée is produced every year from a selection of our best barrels.
The wines are barrel-aged for a period of between 12 and 18 months and blending takes place 6 months prior to bottling. The bottled wine is then kept in our cellars for a year before being sold.
La Grande Réserve (90% Cabernet franc,10% Cabernet sauvignon)
Limestone soils, low yields (35 hectolitres/hectare) and harvesting at full maturity ensure that this cuvée is delightfully rich and expresses a perfect balance between its tannic structure and its acidity.
This is an elegant, silkily tannic wine; firm in the mouth, full, frank, original and fruity.
The Cabernet Franc expresses itself magnificently, culminating in a long aromatic finish.
Our Whites
The idea here was to combine the delicate elegance of Semillon with the aromatic force of Sauvignon: and what a successful marriage!
The Sauvignon Blanc grape is wonderfully adapted to our poor boulbène soils. For a Sauvignon–based wine to work well, it is important to harvest the grapes before they are too ripe and to keep careful control of temperatures during the vinification process; only in this manner does Sauvignon fully express its aromatic potential.
Our old Semillon vines add the body and elegance necessary for a well-balanced white.
Intense and fruity, it is a wine to be enjoyed either by itself as an aperitif or with fish.
La cuvée Patience (80% sémillon, 20% sauvignon)
Blanc Barrique.
Rosé d’une Nuit (Rosé of a Night)
So-called because of the vinification process: it is drawn off during the night that follows the harvest, just as soon as the grape juice has been sufficiently coloured by the skins. It is made of Malbec – from which it gets its fruitiness - and Merlot, which supplies a supple full-bodiedness.
This is an easy-drinking wine which retains all its inherent natural qualities. Delicious as an aperitif and fantastic with summer meals.
Liquoreux (100% 100-year Semillon vines)
The successive, selective pickings of the late-harvested Semillon only come to an end in early November. The wine’s complexity and crystallized fruit aromas are due to the noble rot with which the grapes are affected by the time they are harvested. The wine is a golden colour with a nose of honey and beeswax and a mouth whose apple and quince jelly flavours announce the buttered toast on its way.
Serve with foie gras or as an aperitif.
